A living Swedish tradition!

Skene has been known for its fine clay, from the bottom of the Viskan river, since the 1700s. The mud was very clean and was ideal for manufacturing ceramics. The conditions meant that the district around Skene became a centre for the manufacture of pottery goods, bricks & tiles. The body of the tiled stoves and the smoke ducts were built from brick and a mortar of clay and sand was used.

There were at least six tiled stove makers in Skene, one of which, Anjougarden, was in operation up until the 1950s.
At the ends of the 1950s the demand for tiled stoves died out, and the residences were fitted with electric or oil fired heating.

Today, tiled stoves are more popular than ever and for many are the obvious choice for heating. Our modern tiled stoves are as attractive and solid as the previous models. We have successfully preserved the traditional design,
at the same time adapting our design to modern day living conditions and have further developed the combustion technology.

A beautiful tiled stove from Svenska Kakelugnar can bring much more to your home than perhaps any other item of furniture or furnishing detail. It is an impressive eye-catching feature, providing a warm and cosy atmosphere. Our designs are inspired by the most popular models of classic tiled stoves, so-called pipe stoves from various eras.
The original feel has been preserved in the beautiful handmade tiles and the little details. You can choose from tiled upright stoves with a traditional small hatch or with a modern panorama opening, giving a richer experience of the living flames.

Our tiled stoves are manufactured according to Cronstedt and Wrede's classic principles, but we have adapted the design to today's living environments, further developed the combustion technology and improved the robustness.
To reduce the total cost to the consumer, we have also streamlined the manufacturing process and simplified installation on site. But we have not compromised in any way on the level of quality. Sound material choices and tried-and-tested solutions guarantee reliable firing for many decades to come.
